Tablatura

The unique early music band "Tablatura"
has gained a solid reputation for their free
spirited arrangements and adventurous
performance skills which transcend
chronological and East-West distinctions.
The ensemble's music-making incorporates
a wide variety of elements bringing to
the fore the respective excellences of
each of its five members. Tablatura has
already succeeded in acquiring  a wide
circle of admirers far exceeding that
generally  associated with early music.

Tablatura began performing in 1984 and presents numerous concerts a year throughout their homeland Japan and has also given concerts in Canada, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Egypt, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Korea supported or arranged by Japan Foundation.

Tablatura's repertoire includes European dance music from medieval and renaissance periods as well as many new works for period instruments written by members of the ensemble themselves.
The director of Tablatura is Takashi Tsunoda, lutenist. The other member have each own unites and give concerts and recording as one of leading artists of several fields; string quartet, vocal ensemble, chamber music ensemble and flamenco group. Tablatura plays frequently with Mutsumi Hatano as vocal guest.

Takashi TSUNODA[Director]

Plays plucked instruments; Vihuela, Ud, Lauta, Lute

Studied the lute at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Köln in
Germany. Now he gives many concerts as a solo lutenist as well as
a independent accompanist for lute song and chamber music. He has been
a director of his own two ensembles "Tablatura" "Ensemble Ecclesia",
and produced many early music CDs.

Mizuhiro TASAKI

Plays rubbed string instruments; Fiddle

Studied the violin at the Tokyo National college of Arts and Music. He plays
also cello as a member of the very promising ensemble "Classical Quartet"
and "Ongaku Zanmai".

Ikuo KONDOH

Plays percussion instruments; many kind of drums, Hummer dulcimer

Studied percussions at the Kunitachi college of music. He has also learned Jazz Drums. His performs extend in several music fields over genres :
modern computer music, early music, jazz, ethnic music and so on.

Kohji EZAKI

Plays wind instruments;Recorder, Schawm

He has started his music career from his childhood and got many awards.
Studied the baroque Oboe and recorder at the Toho college of music. He also
plays in ensemble "La Fontaine" "Bach Collegium Japan".

Masashi YAMAZAKI

Plays Vihuela

Studied classical guitar with Kazuhito Osawa, Spanish guitar with Hideo Ito and Joaquin Amador.
After graduated from Shobi college of music, he went to Spain several times to perform with Spanish dance companies as accompanist .
He plays with flamenco dancers, also as a solo guitarist.

     



Concerts
Tablatura has presented 15-20 concerts a year in Tokyo and throughout Japan.

In 1994 the ensemble was invited to appear in Canada at the Quebec International Summer Festival and the Lanaudiere International Festival.

In 1996 Tablatura had a concert tour for Egypt[ Cairo ], Italy [ Florence, Rome, Venice, Milan ], Slovenia [ Ljubljiana ], Austria [ Stainach] by Japan Foundation.

In 1997 Tablatura had a concert tour for India [ Delhi] , Pakistan [ Karachi, Islamabad] ,
Bangladesh [ Dhaka] , also by Japan Foundation.

In 2002 Tablatura had several concerts in Koria by Japan Foundation.
